Published by

Launched last week by global domain registry operator Afilias, .LGBT, the first and only top-level domain (TLD) dedicated to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, is now open for registration. Members of the LGBT community, as well as businesses, organizations and other entities serving that community can now register for their own unique .LGBT domain name.

“The new .LGBT domain provides email and site addresses that instantly convey ‘LGBT-friendly’”, said Roland LaPlante, Chief Marketing Officer of Afilias. “The large and vibrant LGBT community now has an Internet address that embraces the full breadth and diversity of LGBT people around the world in a protected, inclusive manner.”

In order to ensure that the .LGBT space is not misused, names that are abusive, threatening, defamatory or hateful with respect to the LGBT community are explicitly prohibited (e.g.,,, etc.) under the terms of the Afilias .LGBT Acceptable Use Policy.
